On Saturday, the Christmas celebration was disrupted by alleged ‘Bajrang Dal” in Silchar, Assam who demanded that ‘Chirtstian can celebrate Christmas but Hindus cannot’.
According to a report by NDTV, the alleged goons claiming to be members of the Bajrang Dal, forced their way into a church and demanded it be shut down because Hindus could not take part in the festivities

Hindus cannot take part in Christmas function
Reportedly, a video went viral on social media where these alleged Bajrang Dal said, “We are not against Christmas… let only Christian celebrate Christmas. We are against Hindu boys and girls participating in Christmas function. Today it was Tulsi Diwas of Hindus, but no one celebrated. It hurts our sentiments… everyone is saying Merry Christmas. How will our religion survive?”
We will ensure that such activities are not repeated: Cachar SP
Taking the situation into the matter the Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur said, “We are in the process of identifying the people involved in this and then we will take action as per law whenever we receive a complaint. Also, we will take steps to ensure that such activities are not repeated.”
We were obeying CM Sarma’s order: Bajrang Dal
Meanwhile, one of the members who identified himself as Rangirkhari Bajrang Dal’s “Sah-Sangjayog” said, “Since the Church was getting crowded, we emptied it. It was Chief Minister of Assam’s order that the Churches must remain shut and there should be a curfew after 11. Without obeying the CM’s directives, people have entered the Church. They are also violating the COVID19 protocols and that is why we have pushed everyone out and locked the Church, Jai Shree Ram.”
