Speaking to the press on Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the Assam government targets the vaccination of the entire estimated 2.1 crore population with both doses by the advent of 2022 in January next year while administrating first doses to those above 18 years of age by November 20, 2021.

Admission of 2.75 crore doses
The CM marked 2.75 crore doses to have been administered to date, including 77 lakh people to have received double doses. With an estimated 2.1 crore population, around 2,00,76,000 have received the first dose. It was further informed that the willing populace above 18 years has at least taken the first dose. The remaining 10 lakh are ‘anti-vaxxers’ who are either resistant or not willing to get vaccinated.
Government’s plan for door-to-door vaccines
The government plans to provide a door-to-door vaccination campaign in the most remote areas, to vaccinate as many people as possible. If the third wave of pandemic strikes, the CM is optimistic that the populace will be able to withstand the circumstances.
