As per reports, during the Durga puja celebrations, the Guwahati police initiated an innovative effort on Tuesday to ensure that the puja festivities in Guwahati are safe and secure.
Patrolling squad
The Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Mahanta, along with DCP EGPD S. Bora, DCP WGPD N Mahanta, and ADCP Traffic D. Bora, deployed a motorbike patrolling squad on the streets of Guwahati.
Informing about the initiative, Guwahati police took to their official Twitter handle saying, “In a novel initiative, JCP Sh.
Partha Mahanta, along with DCP EGPD Sh. S. Bora, DCP WGPD Sh. N Mahanta & ADCP Traffic Sh. D. Bora hit the streets of Guwahati today, leading a motorcycle patrol to ensure safe & secure Puja festivities.”
Traffic advice
The Guwahati Traffic Police had issued traffic advice earlier on Monday to safeguard public safety.
According to the advisory, from October 12 to October 17, 2021, no commercial goods-carrying vehicles with six wheels or more will be allowed to travel on NH-37 and NH-27 in the Guwahati Metropolitan city from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
From 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. on October 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, 2021, only three and four-wheel LMV goods carrying vehicles will be permitted to enter the city.
