Guwahati has new hotspots

According to Superintendent of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital Abhijit Sarma, most of the people found to be positive were from these three areas.

He said, “Chandmari, Rajgarh and Maligaon recorded high numbers of Covid19 cases recently. However, assessment of hotspots is being done and monitored by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam.”

Guwahati alone on Thursday recorded 369 Covid-19 positive cases out of the total 844 fresh cases in the state. The COVID-19 positive rate of Assam stands at 2.37 percent.

In Chandmari area recently a lot of crowd has been witnessed at the ongoing Book fair held at Assam Engineering Institute playground.

As Rajgarh is an adjoining area to Chandmari itself, therefore cases have been rising there as well.

Also, Maligaon is always a crowded area. And the Kamakhya railway station in Maligaon records huge incoming passengers from other parts of the country on a daily basis which adds as a factor to the rising cases.

However, a new sop has been issued considering the ongoing rise in Covid-19 and Omicron cases.

Curfew timings have been changed along with few other changes.
