The Assam Government on Friday revoked the relaxation granted to pregnant women and mothers with children under the age of three years who work for any government, public sector undertaking, financial institution, or private organisation which was earlier provided in light of the COVID situation in the state.
New Standard Operation Procedure (SOP)
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued a new standard operating procedure (SOP) requiring all government employees (including contractual and fixed-pay employees) to report to work, with the exception of those on permitted leave.
The condition of COVID-19 in the state has also been examined, according to the notification, and the general situation in the state has significantly improved.
Improvement in vaccination status
Furthermore, the state’s COVID vaccination status has improved dramatically, with 95 percent of the state’s total eligible population receiving the first dose, many districts nearing saturation, and second dose immunisation reaching 31 percent of the state’s total eligible population.
According to an official release, state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta met with religious leaders to address the issue of vaccination hesitancy in some pockets of a few districts and to ensure 100% first-dose vaccination of the total eligible population in the state by the end of this month.
