According to reports, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has compiled a list of various spas and unisex salons that are either operating without a commercial license or engaging in illegal activities.
The list, according to Guwahati Municipal Corporation officials, comprises the names of around 65 establishments, many of which are suspected of operating illegally.
“There are 65 names on the list. We’ve got reports of unlawful operations being carried out in a number of these, and a few more are operating without necessary trade licenses. Although not all are to blame, there are a number of well-known establishments. We’ll be doing inspection drives on these, and if someone is proven guilty, we’ll take the appropriate action” The official stated.
GMC performs frequent inspections against violators
Previously, the Corporation performed frequent inspections against violators, and some spas and unisex salons were fined and closed.
However, due to the widespread use of the Model Code of Conduct in the run-up to the GMC elections, all initiatives were discontinued.
GMC Commissioner Devashish Sharma told the media that while some spas and unisex salons operate lawfully and in accordance with regulations, many others do not.
“The GMC has yet to collect income from a number of businesses, and our officers will take steps to retrieve these funds from tax evaders. Traders and firms must adhere to all GMC bylaws, according to the Corporation” he stated
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s Health and Enforcement Branches raided and sealed a business called M/S Unique Hair & Spa in Dona Planet, Bhangagarh, on April 29 for violating terms and conditions when acquiring an online instant trade license.
