Surat: Dindoli Police booked 3 people along with a 18 year old girl on Friday for allegedly poisoning her own family members to elope and marry her boyfriend named Sachin. The girl was waiting to be an adult to marry her lover and days after her birthday, she poisoned her mother and father and brother and eloped with her lover. Police booked the woman, her ‘husband’ and his father as well.
Based on a grievance by the girl’s father Dipak Vanzara, Dindoli Police booked Khushbu (18), her husband Sachin (22) and his father Ashok More (49) for inflicting harm by means of poisoning and conspiracy. Vanzara had lost his job during the lockdown as a contractual worker in an industrial unit in Hazira.
Police also arrested a property broker named Ashok on Saturday whilst his unemployed son, Sachin, and Khushbu are on the run. Police suspected that the duo had taken safe haven at a relative’s place. A police group is looking for the accused couple.
Investigation found out that the two households lived in the same society in Dindoli wherein the both of the accused developed love from friendship.
Previous attempt to run off
Even in an instance earlier, Khushbu, who had quit her schooling after class 10, had eloped with Sachin around two years ago. After the duo was found at the house of Sachin’s relative, Khushbu was brought back to her as she was a minor at that time. Her mother and father are not in a position to accept their relationship.
More families, meanwhile, shifted to some other area and additionally they sold their residence to pay off debt however the families stayed in touch.
Statement by Dindoli Police Officer
According to a Dindoli Police officer, “Two days after Khushbu’s 18th birthday, she planned to elope with her lover and the duo plotted to make her parents unconscious and escape from home on September 12. She bought some tablets from a medical store and mixed it with dough to feed her family aloo paratha.”
Poisoning of Khushbu’s family
In the evening, she fed her family food mixed with the medicine-laced dough however refused to eat herself. When her dad and mom asked, she claimed she wasn’t feeling hungry. A little later, when her family members started feeling dizzy and became unconscious, Ashok picked Khushbu up on a motorbike and she eloped with Sachin.
Khushbu’s father woke up feeling uneasy the next morning and found out that his daughter is missing from home. He awoke his spouse and son who too had been feeling uneasy.
Complaint lodged by Khushbu’s father
Meanwhile, Vanzara received a call from Dindoli police station and was asked to come to the police station. Police informed him that his daughter had come to the police station along with her husband after registering their marriage.
“She came to inform the police about her marriage and be allowed to go with her husband as she was major now,” said the police.
After recovery, he approached the police and lodged a proper complaint.
