Amid the state’s Durga puja celebrations, at least two people were killed in a road accident in Bongaigaon district on Wednesday.
The incident
When the duo on a speeding motorcycle collided with a tractor on the road in the evening hours, the incident occurred.
Nijam Basumatary and Ratul Muchahary were recognized as the victims. They were both students at Bongaigaon College, according to reports.
Separate incident
In a separate occurrence, Dispur Das was killed in a traffic accident in the Dhekial area of Golaghat. Das was believed to have been struck by a fast vehicle that fled the scene.

Earlier, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had urged young people not to ride their motorcycles when inebriated.
301 road accidents registered during Durga Puja 2021
Even though last year’s Durga Puja celebrations were relatively low-key, 301 road traffic accidents were reported across the State over the four days.
50 instances were recorded on October 23, 69 cases on October 24, 87 cases on October 26, and 95 cases on October 26, 2021, according to a report by Mrityunjoy 108 ambulance service.
The district of Sonitpur had the highest number of road accidents, with a total of 39. After that, 32 cases were reported in Kamrup (Rural), 21 in Nagaon, 18 in Cachar, and 16 in Golaghat, Bongaigaon, and Dibrugarh, respectively.
During the days, there were four accidents reported in Kamrup (Metro), whereas only one accident was reported in Dima Hasao.
It should be noted that Bijoya Dashami saw the highest number of accidents. During the day, a total of 95 instances were reported from all around the state. During the day, however, there were no accidents in Kamrup (Metro).
When compared to the previous year, the number of instances has decreased dramatically. During Durga Puja in 2019, Mrityunjoy 108 ambulance service documented a total of 472 accident cases across the state. While Kamrup (Rural) had the most accidents in 2019, with 65, Kamrup (Metro) had the fewest with 28.
