A group of women comprising Ruma, Semanti, and Paulami will be making history at the 66 Pally in Kolkata, led by priestess Nandini Bhowmick. These women will be in charge of the much-anticipated Durga Puja celebration, which is marked by pomp and circumstance this year.
The prominent south Kolkata puja committee also issued a statement saying, “Maa Durga shall be invoked by moms,” and it is ready to lead by example.
According to The Indian Express, one of the committee’s leaders, Pradyumna Mukherjee, stated that this year’s theme is “worshipping the goddess by moms” and that the puja’s major goal is to “eliminate gender-based prejudices.”
On August 22, the puja committee will begin the preparations for the yearly celebration with a ‘khuntipujo.’
