The Rajasthan Police Department arrested one person and five others on the grounds of alleged child marriage in the district of Jhalawar on Monday.
Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006
The Gurjar community marriage took place in a small village of Rajasthan called the Salyakheda Village which falls under the Rawasiya Gram Panchayat on Thursday.
A video was circulated that showed a minor girl coming into wedlock at the district. The act is strictly prohibited and a case was registered under the section Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. A show notice was served to the Gram Sevak, Panchayat Sahayak, and Aanganwadi workers of the said village.
Four government officials who were posted at the district were also given notices for not taking note of the alleged wedlock.
