In the state of Meghalaya, the Shillong Teer Lottery game is immensely popular. The number of arrows decides the outcome of this lottery game. In this renowned Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association game, there are a total of two rounds.
This game is played by a total of 50 archers. In the first round of the game, you can shoot up to 30 arrows, and in the second round, you can shoot up to 20 arrows.
In 2 minutes, one round of shooting should be finished. The archer has two minutes to accomplish one round of shooting during the game.

A legal betting game
Under the Meghalaya Amusements and Betting Tax (Amendment) Act 1982, the Meghalaya Lottery department organises Shillong Teer, an archery-based betting lottery game.
This game is legalised and is played at the Polo Ground by Khashi Hills Archery Sports Organization from Monday to Saturday with two rounds of the set every day.
From 10 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., tickets can be purchased at state-authorized outlets. This game is similar to other lottery games in that you can bet from 0 to 99 on the ticket you want to play on.
The numbers are mostly used to hit the target with the least amount of arrows.
A game based on world of ‘dreams’
This isn’t like betting on a regular sporting event, though. Teer wagers are based on the dream world.
The game goes like this: The archers squat in a semi-circle with their bows, firing as many times as they can at a bundle of straw approximately 50 metres away.
To find their mark, players choose a number between 0 and 99 that symbolises the last two digits of the entire number. If 353 arrows land in the bundle, for example, everyone who chose 53 will be paid.
It’s a game of chance, but it’s based on the concept that the winning numbers emerge in players’ dreams, which are translated into numbers using a local system.
The archers, who are members of one of the Khasi Hills Archery Association’s 12 local clubs, treat their profits as supplementary money because they are usually working or run a teer counter.

If you wish to play the Shillong TEER lottery, you must purchase a ticket, which ranges in price from Re 1 to Rs 100.
