Bihar‘s Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science detected an ‘unknown’ variant of COVID-19. It was recognized after genome sequencing of COVID-19 samples.

According to the director of the institute, 32 samples had been tested for coronavirus variants, with 27 samples testing positive for the heavily mutated Omicron variant. Four samples tested positive for the Delta variant, while one was for an unknown variant of the virus.
Previously, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday tested COVID-19 positive too and, on the advice of the doctors, has gone into home isolation.
