A group of men in Bengaluru, India, have organized a puja to worship billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk for his recent acquisition of Twitter. The puja, conducted by the Students Islamic Organisation of India-Front (SIFF), was held at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park and was intended to show admiration for Musk’s support of free speech on the platform.

Group in Bengaluru organizes puja for Elon Musk over Twitter purchase

In a video that has gone viral on social media, a group member is seen lighting incense sticks in front of a poster of Elon Musk while others chant ‘Baba Elon Musk ki jai’. According to Sriman NarSingh, a Twitter user, SIFF members are worshipping guru Elon Musk in Bengaluru for purchasing Twitter and allowing men to express their views against the oppression of authorities.

Elon Musk

The men stated they are worshipping Musk because he allowed people to express their views against the authorities’ oppression after taking over Twitter last October. The post has garnered numerous reactions in the comment section, with some users congratulating Musk on being chosen as a god, while others pointed out the irony of his support for Amber Heard in the Johnny Depp case.

Elon Musk completed a $44 billion ( INR 3,636,611,176,000) deal and took over Twitter last October. Since then, he has made several changes to the social media platform, including the introduction of paid subscriptions, a bookmark button, and a new navigation style.

This isn’t the first time that Elon Musk has been worshipped as a deity. Last year, a man in Russia started a cult in Musk’s honor, claiming that the Tesla CEO was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. Musk himself has responded to such claims by stating that he is not a religious figure and that people should not worship him.

In addition to SIFF, another men’s rights organization in Bengaluru called Save Indian Family Foundation organized a puja for Elon Musk. The group claimed that they had previously been shadow-banned by the previous “woke admins” of the company and that since Musk’s takeover, they have regained their “right to free speech.”

The group has been worshipping Musk as the “destroyer of Wokashura (Woke Ashura) and evictor of feminists.” Another reason cited for this act is that Musk apparently allows men to “express their views against the oppression of authorities.” They also have a set of mantras: “Ohm Elon Muskaya Namah, Ohm Twitereshwaraya Namah, Ohm Feminist Evictoraya Namah, Feminist Evictoraya Namah, Ohm Twitter Cleaneraya Namah” etc.

As per a Hindustan Times report, the men’s rights group has been protesting over the past few days at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park against Public Interest Litigations (PILs) on marital rape in the Supreme Court.

Controversies surrounds this puja

The SIFF’s puja for Elon Musk has sparked controversy and criticism from some quarters. Women’s rights activists have condemned the group’s praise for Musk, calling it misguided and misplaced. They argue that Musk’s support for free speech does not outweigh his problematic views and actions on other issues, such as the Johnny Depp case and his comments about pronouns.

In conclusion, Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has sparked both admiration and controversy in Bengaluru, with some men’s rights groups worshipping him as a god for his support of free speech and others criticizing his problematic views and actions. While Musk has stated that he is not a religious figure and does not condone such worship, his impact on social media and the broader culture cannot be denied.
