Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) – for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level for the state of Assam is conducted by the government of Assam by NCTE recommendations under Section 23 of the RTE Act – 2009. TET Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper-II (Upper Primary) are open to candidates who have a permanent address in the state of Assam.
The date of the examination is set to be 24th October 2021. There are two papers, Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper-II (Upper Primary). The duration of the examination is 2 and 1/2 hours (For each paper).
Eligibility Criteria to Appear in LP UP TET
Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V):
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any name) OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) obtained from any recognized institution and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) obtained from any recognized institution and a minimum of 50% marks shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V, provided that the person so appointed as a teacher must undergo mandatory training.
Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII):
Graduation and a 2-year Elementary Education Diploma (under any name) OR Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50% and a 4-year B.A./B. Sc. Ed. OR B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed. OR Graduation with a minimum of 50% and a 1-year B. Ed (Special Education).
Minimum Marks to Qualify in TET
To pass the Teachers’ Eligibility Test, a candidate must score 60 percent, or 90 out of 150 points (TET).
However, there will be a 5% relaxation for SC/ST (Hills)/ST (Plain)/OBC/MOBC/PWD (PH). As a result, qualifying grades for these candidates will be 83 out of 150, or 55%.
