Assam High School Teacher Recruitment Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: Applicants must be Assam permanent residents.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and no more than 40 years old as of January 1, 2021.
Relaxation of Age: The relaxation of age will be as follows:
OBC/MOBC: 3 Years
ST/SC: 5 Years
Ex-Servicemen: 2 Years
PwD: 10 Years
Madrassa TET & Special TET: Madrassa TET and Special TET for BTAD / Sixth Schedule will not be taken into account in the recruitment of Graduate Teachers (Arts, Science, Hindi) and Assamese Teachers.
Educational Background:
Teacher (Arts & Science) with a Master’s Degree:
To be considered for the position of Graduate Teacher (Arts), candidates must hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a National Council for Teacher Education recognized institution and be an Arts/Commerce Graduate or Post Graduate in Arts/Commerce from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent) (s).
To be considered for the position of Graduate Teacher (Science), a candidate must be a Science Graduate or Post Graduate in Science from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent) and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a National Council for Teacher Education recognized institution (s).
By Govt. OM No. ASE.238/2014/213, dtd. 22.11.2019, those institutions with territorial jurisdiction outside the State of Assam but with a study center in the State, and such study centers if not recognized by DEC under UGC, the degrees/certificates issued by such off-campus institutions shall not be considered valid for employment under the Education Department. Degrees/diplomas given by KKHSOU, IGNOU, Gauhati University’s IDOL, and Dibrugarh University’s Distance Education shall, however, be deemed valid for employment purposes.
In the case of the Secondary TET For the UR category, the candidate must score 60 percent on each paper, while for the OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), and PwD categories, the candidate must score 55 percent on each paper.
(Hindi) Graduate Teacher:
Pravin / Ratna in Hindi with 50 percent marks and a degree qualification with 50 percent marks or a postgraduate degree in Arts with 50 percent marks from any recognized University, or BA with 50 percent marks and Hindi as one of the subjects with 50 percent marks or a postgraduate degree in Arts with 50 percent marks provided that he has passed BA with Hindi as one of the subjects with 50 percent marks or a postgraduate degree in Arts with 50 percent marks provided that he has passed BA with Hindi as one of the subjects.
A B.T. or B.Ed. degree from a recognized university is required (Parangat to be treated as 8. Ed. degree).

Medium of Instruction:
(i) In the case of an Assamese Medium School, the candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with the Assamese Language as one of the topics, or possess a Diploma in the Assamese Language given by the Axom Sahitya Sabha, or have read up to the HSLC level in an Assamese Medium School.
(ii) In the case of Bengali Medium School, the candidate must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination with the Bengali language as one of the subjects, or have a Bengali language diploma issued by the Barak Upatyaka Bangla Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan, or have read up to HSLC level in Bengali medium school.
(iii) In the case of a Hindi medium school, the candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with Hindi as one of the subjects or have read up to the HSLC level in Hindi medium school.
(iv) In the case of a Bodo Medium School, the candidate must have passed the HSLC or comparable examination with Bodo language as one of the topics or have read up to the HSLC level in the Bodo Medium School.
(v) In the event of an English Medium School, the candidate must have passed the HSLC or comparable examination with Alternative English as one of the topics or have read in English Medium School from Class XI onwards. Provided, however, that when hiring a teacher to teach a MIL topic, only candidates who have passed the HSLC examination in that subject will be considered.
