Assam ranks worst in Rural area Swachhta survey. Assam is ranked at the bottom followed by Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the reports published by Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2022, three states have emerged to be the cleanest – Telangana, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu.
The states were ranked on the basis of the performance in terms of involvement of the rural community in sanitation programmes. The report was issued by President Droupadi Mrumru.

Assam’s Golaghat ranked at the bottom out of all 709 districts. The other two worst performers were Bihar’s Katihar and Banka. The cleanest district is Haryana’s Bhiwani and the second cleanest are Jagtial and Nizamabad districts of Telangana.
