During May 10 and December 26, 2021, the Assam Police arrested 3,162 people in 1,846 cases under the NDPS (Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Drugs and other illegal substances worth Rs 342.77 crore were also recovered by the police.
According to reports, 55.595 kg heroin, 13044.30787 kg ganja, 40.05075 kg opium, 1,36,679 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, 27,94,184 tablets/capsules, 3.5601 kg morphine, 3,314 kg poppy straw, 3.375 kg crystal Methamphetamine, 0.29261 kg cocaine, and 213.935 kg cannabis plant were seized. During the operation, they seized 165 automobiles.
In addition to these, the police found Rs 2,23,35,278, FICN having a face value of Rs 36,800, and foreign currency. During that time, the police demolished around 31 bighas of cannabis-growing land.
