The government of Assam has chosen to bestow the ‘Asom Baibhav,’ the state’s highest civilian honour, on famed industrialist Ratan Tata. The award ceremony will take place in Guwahati, the state capital, on Monday, January 24, 2022.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that, due to his health issues, Ratan Tata will be unable to travel Assam on Monday to accept the award personally.
Thankful for the award
The prize, on the other hand, will be awarded to him at a meeting in Mumbai at a later date to be determined. In light of this, Tata Sons’ former Chairman issued a letter to CM Sarma, regretting his inability to visit the state and thanking him for the decision to grant him the Asom Baibhav 2021.
Tata added in the letter that he is very moved and grateful for the Assam government’s decision to grant him the Asom Baibhav award for the year 2021.
Gratitude to the Chief Minister of Assam
He went on to praise the CM Sarma, describing himself as a fan of Sarma’s personal devotion to the Assamese people’s well-being. He stated that earning the award from the state’s Chief Minister is a great honour for him. He expressed gratitude to the chief minister for understanding his inability to accept the award at the occasion on Monday, as well as his willingness to present the honor in Mumbai at a later date.
