On Thursday, the Assam government declared to provide temple priests and Namghorias in the state with a one-time financial grant of Rs 15000 each.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a cabinet meeting decided to provide financial grant to temple priests and Namghorias of Namghors (Vaishnavite places of worship) who suffered difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Keshab Mahanta announced the cabinet decision

According to the source Keshab Mahanta, Assam Health Minister announced the cabinet’s decision by saying that an online portal will be opened for registration, the details to be advertised later.

The Assam Migrant Workers’ Food Security Scheme, which was approved by the government will give dry rations to migrant workers who are affected by Covid-19.

Migrant labourers will receive rice, dal, salt and mustard oil as part of the scheme, stated by Mahanta.

Further he adds, the data of migrant workers available on the e-SHRAM site and other accessible resources will be used by district administrations to allocate dry rations.

Meanwhile, in 2021 the Assam Industrial Relations Rules have been passed by the cabinet in order to preserve the interests of employers and employees, pave the path for industrial prosperity and to secure industrial peace and harmony.

Additionally, the number of MBBS seats reserved for tea garden communities has been expanded to 24 and the number of BDS seats has been increased to 3.
