Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the state will have night curfew night from 11 PM once the COVID-19 cases drop below the mark of 1000. The timings of the night curfew were changed at the beginning of January 2022 to 10 PM from 11 PM when COVID cases started increasing at a speady rate.

While addressing the press and media Assam Chief Minister announces that classes in schools will reopen from February 15.
On January 24, Sarma had stated the same, stating that there are almost no deaths reported due to the omicron virus in Assam. He had moreover informed that the hospitalization rate was also lower than 12 percent.

Himanta Biswa Sarma had also asserted that the government might introduce new set of restrictions if the state witnesses a severe or more serious variant of the virus.
Speaking on the containment zones, the Chief Minister said that in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus, containment zones may be announced in places where the cases are high. However, there will be no restriction on the people, so that they can continue with their daily normal life.
