Arunachal: On December 15, the locals of Manmao circle of Changlang district vandalized several vertical concrete structures which were reportedly constructed by officials of Assam in the village, within Arunachal’s territory.

About the scenario in Arunachal:

According to the villagers the structures had been assembled by Assam’s authorities within Arunachal’s boundary, and that they immediately deconstructed the pillars when they saw the structures within their village area.

After hearing the local’s part of the story, the Manmao EAC filed a complaint at the Manmao police station (PS) to investigate the incident.

As per the information of Changlang SP Mihin Gambo, a police team led by the Manmao PS OC visited the area “but was unable to verify the spot of the concrete pillars as the villagers have already dismantled all of them.”

The SP further added that the police team had already allocated regular patrolling the area to monitor any such activities which raises suspicions.

Other incidents:

A similar incident took place on May 10, 2020 in the same place where forest officials from Lekhapani (Assam) reportedly broke into the territory of the state and vandalized the foundation stone of the rural works department marking the interstate link road, and removed a PHED ODF signboard nearby.
