On December 24, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu said that the Arunachal Pradesh Government has aimed to convert at least three villages along the India-China border as model villages.
About the villages
The three villages which are to be developed into model villages are Kaho, Musai and Kibithu in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.
CM Khandu said, “a special scheme ‘Model Village’ was launched recently to develop villages along the border by implementing various central and state government schemes.”
Aim of the decision
The decision was taken by the government to stop migration of border people to urban centres.
The CM said, “Airtel bagged the tender for installation of 4G towers in the district and work for the same will start soon.”
About Model village Scheme
Under the Model Village scheme, MPs are supposed to adopt villages and develop them as “model” villages. The idea was that each MP would adopt three villages each in three phases between 2014 and 2019, and five villages between 2019 and 2024.
