Manipur’s Bala Devi‘s tactic skills in football are no secret as she still holds the record of being the first Indian woman to secure a professional football deal in Europe.
Devi, for her exceptional play with the ball, has been awarded the Women’s Footballer of the Year for 2020-21 by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Devi has also previously pocketed this honour in 2014 and 2015 and this is her third time winning this prestigious accolade.
Bala scripted history when she secured the first competitive goal in December for Rangers Women’s FC in Scotland. Bala Devi, who currently plays for the Rangers Women’s FC, extended her gratitude to her family, coach, and teammates who helped her to focus on the important things.

“I’m so happy to have won this award. A big thank you to the AIFF and all the fans for their support. I’d also like to thank my coaches, both at my club in Rangers, and in the national team; also all the coaches that I’ve played under in the past,” Devi added.
