The Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi did extremely well at the box office. The film opened to Rs 10.5 crore in India.
Reportedly, the film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is expected to gross Rs 40 crore over the weekend.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai brings in huge crowd
As per reports, the film with Alia Bhatt’s impressive performance and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s masterful direction ensured huge crowds in the theatres.

Reportedly, Gangubai had a strong opening at the box office, and the numbers were even higher on the second day.
Makes twice the amount on 2nd day
On the first day of its release the film was able to collect Rs 10.5 crore, while on the second day, it made more than twice which is Rs 23.5 crore. The audience also loved the movie.
Reportedly, a Rs 40 crore opening weekend for the film was predicted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He tweeted, “#GangubaiKathiawadi SOLID SATURDAY Eyes 40 cr [+/-] total in its *opening weekend* in #India #GangubaiKathiawadi (flower) nahin, (fire) hain (sic)”

Taran Adarsh, mentioned the film to be the biggest crowd-puller overseas.
Also, analyst Girish Johar, predicts a promising weekend for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Movie on Mafia Queens of Mumbai
The film Gangubai Kathiawadi is produced by Jayantilal Gada. It stars Ajay Devgn, Parth Samthaan, Shantanu Maheshwari and Seema Pahwa in crucial roles.
The movie Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

Alia Bhatt, here plays the role of a woman named Ganga who travels from Gujarat to Mumbai with her partner. But she is betrayed and sold off. Following which Ganga ends up in a life of prostitution.
She then becomes a madam named Gangubai in the red light area of Kamathipura and rises to power. She fights for the rights of women and gets a stronghold and rises in politics.
