A massive landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has killed 4 people in Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

Three members of a family were killed in a landslide in the Gambegre block of the West Garo Hills district early Thursday morning, while a 2-and-a-half-year-old boy perished in a similar incident in the Betasing area of the South West Garo Hills district.

Heavy rains pounded Garo Hills late Wednesday night, causing the accidents.

Moreover, three members of a single-family were buried alive in a landslip in Jebalgre village, Gambegre block. The town of Jebalgre is 32 kilometers away from the Gambegre block and 45 kilometers away from Tura.

The family was asleep when the house was struck by a landslip, killing the members.

The three victims that are identified have been named Pritish Marak (mother), Almost Marak (son), and Aianbe Marak (daughter) (daughter).

Sengrik Sangma and his son Thobias Marak are in serious condition at a hospital after surviving the tragedy.
