Two Civil Officers suspended by the Assam Government for not joining a new post after being transferred. The decision was taken as a result of the policy issued against the two officers who refrained from joining their position.
Two Civil Officers suspended by Assam Government
As per reports, the two civil officers suspended have been identified as Anurag Phukan and Hooman Gohain Baruah. The officers have been placed under Rule 6 (1) (a) of the Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964.
The following are the two notices issued against the two Civil officers suspended. The notice that was issued in case of Anurag Phukan, it was the stated that the officer who had been serving as Deputy Secretary in Cultural Affairs Department Dispur and Joint Director, Cultural Affairs was tranferred as Protocol Officer in the GAD on the 25th of April 2022. However, the officer failed to join the post of position till 13th May 2022.
The notice read, “Thus Anurag Phukan, ACS had failed to comply with the Government instructions which amounts to a violation of Government orders, insubordination and gross-misconduct. Now therefore, Anurag Phukan, ACS is placed under suspension under Rule 6(1) (a) of the Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964 with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, the headquater of Anurag Phukan ACS will remain as Kamrup (M).”
On a similar note, the two civil officer suspended, other namely Hooman Gohain Baruah serving as the Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture Department who failed to join his new posting till June 19th.
The notice served to him stated, “It is further confirmed from the General Administration Department that he did not join till June 19. Thus Hooman Gohain Baruah, ACS had failed to comply with the Government instructions/OMs which amounts to a violation of Government orders, insubordination and gross misconduct. Now therefore Hooman Gohain Baruah is placed under suspension under Rule 6(1) (a) of the Assam Services Rules, 1964 with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, the headquater of Hooman Gohain Baruah will remain in Kamrup (M).”
