A 19 year old boy brutally murdered a 60 year old widow and raped her lifeless body. The incident occurred in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district on Thursday, September 16.
According to Rajasthan Police, a 19-year old boy tried to rape a 60-year old widow late night on Thursday in Dulmana village below Pilibanga police station jurisdiction. When the widow resisted, the boy first murdered her, and then had intercourse with the lifeless body.
The 19-year old culprit has been identified as Surendar alias Mandia. An FIR against the culprit has been filed for murder under the act of necrophilia which means the exercise of getting intercourse with dead bodies.
Statement by the police officer
“We have registered an FIR against Mandia under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC). We have arrested the accused,” said a senior police officer of Pilibanga police station.
The police officer added, “The accused after murdering the elderly widow and carrying out an act of necrophilia went to the woman’s brother-in-law and narrated to him how and why he murdered the woman”.
According to the police, the victim’s brother-in-law additionally claimed that Mandia, a day before the incident, molested the female and snatched her cell phone.
“The accused during questioning has confessed his crime,” added the officer.
NCRB states Rajasthan ranks worst in rape cases
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) records released early this week states that Rajasthan has recorded the highest number of rape instances in the country in year 2020 followed by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the crime information for 2020 released via by the NCRB, a total of 5310 rape instances had been registered in multiple police stations of the state. However, Rajasthan’s Director General of Police (DGP) ML Lather claimed that during 2020 an excessive quantity of instances were registered because of the free FIT registration initiative of the state police.
