Kerala: Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly attempting to rape a 23-year-old lady after stalking her and dragging her to a farm.
He assaulted the woman with a stone and tied her hands with her jacket when she protested. The woman, on the other hand, was able to remove herself from his hold and flee to a nearby residence.
As per the reports of The New Indian Express, the woman in the residence sounded an alert, prompting Ummer Farook, a Kottukkara ward councillor of the Kondotty municipality, to arrive on the scene.
About the assault
The accused is a state-level judo champion and a Class 10 student. He was recognised based on the woman’s descriptions and the surveillance footage.
On Tuesday, he was apprehended and had confessed to the crime. He will appear in front of the juvenile justice board.
The event occurred late Monday night when the woman walked from her home to the Kottukkara junction, where she studies at a computer centre in Kondotty.
The boy pursued her and dragged her to the barn, grabbing her from behind. When she struggled, he smacked her in the face with a stone.
Girl’s Condition
“The girl’s face swelled up. Her clothes had been ripped by the assailant. “We provided first aid to the injured woman and transported her to Kondotty Taluk Hospital and then to Manjeri Medical College Hospital,” Kottukkara ward councillor Farook told the national daily.
The Kottukkara ward councillor described the women’s daily routine as follows: The woman usually took a bus from the intersection to reach the computer centre. Her house is 1 kilometre away from the junction. To get to the crossroads, she also takes a detour through a paddy field.
The woman gave the police a description of her assailant and stated that she would recognise him if she saw him again. She also claimed that she had seen the youngster in the vicinity before.
Description
The woman’s nails left scars on the boy’s fingers, neck, and lips as she resisted the rape attempt, according to Malappuram district police chief Sujith Das.
“The woman’s nails had slashed the boy’s hand, neck, and lip as she resisted the rape, leaving cut marks on his hand, neck, and mouth. He informed his parents that he got the marks after falling down while attempting to flee from a pursuing dog. “However, after extensive questioning, he admitted to doing the crime,” he stated.
Inspector Pramod MC of Kondotty said the police will file a report that the boy attempted to rape and murder the woman.
