The Inland Water Transport Regulatory Authority of Assam has issued a proposal to increase the passenger fare for all people availing of the ferry services. The proposal has been issued for the services in the Transport division of Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar under the provision of Section 16 (1) of the AIWT Regulatory Authority Act, 2018.

Prices of ferry service to increase
The transport authority has issued a proposal to increase the price per passenger from Rs 2.50 to Rs 5 per passenger. On the other hand, a passenger travelling with a bicycle will be charged Rs 9 from now onwards.
Passengers with the motorcycle will be charged Rs 1.
As per as the previous prices were concerned, the AIWT has doubled the existing rate. The charges have also been doubled for the night fare. Earlier the price was Rs 2.50 and now it will increase to Rs 10 after 8 PM.
On the occasion of Maha Shiv Ratri, the AIWT launched a ferry service between Guwahati and Umananda for the pilgrim’s visit.
