The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup 2022 will see three Indian referees Rebello Maria Piedade, Ranjita Devi Tekcham and Fernandes Uvena included in the set of women match officials. This will be the largest-ever cast of women match officials.
The total of 12 teams will be participating in the championship with 32 match officials comprising 16 referees and assistant referees from 15 AFC Member Associations incharge of all the matches.
History will also be made when Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will make its debut in the tournament for quarter-finals and potential play-off matches.
Few prominent names in the set includes Korea’s Kim Kyoung-min, Lee Seul-gi, Japan’s Yoshimi Yamashita, Makoto Bozono, Naomi Teshirogi, China’s Fang Yan, Qin Liang and Australia’s Casey Reibelt and Kate Jacewicz.
The AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 is set to commence from January 20. The venues in India include- Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune.
