In a resplendent showcase of creativity, the World Designer Forum (WDF) recently convened the National Designer Awards 2023, a groundbreaking event that brought together over 5000 eminent fashion designers from across India.

The ceremony, held in New Delhi on December 29 and 30, 2023, not only celebrated the excellence in the fashion industry but also underscored WDF’s commitment to promoting the vision of “Vocal for Local” by bridging Indian handloom with national and international fashion.

The National Designer Awards 2023 stood as a testament to the tireless efforts of the World Designer Forum community in fostering a confluence of Indian heritage with contemporary fashion sensibilities. The gala celebration featured a series of grand shows that showcased the zenith of design excellence, with designers from Kashmir to Kanyakumari participating in the event.

Renowned Bollywood designer Ken Ferns, recognized for his outstanding contributions to the industry, graced the event and was honored with the ‘Best Resort Wear Collection of the Year’ award. His presence accentuated the ethos of innovation and creativity that the National Designer Awards aimed to celebrate.

The felicitation ceremony shone a spotlight on luminaries within the industry, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to the world of fashion. Neeta Lulla, a stalwart in the industry, received the ‘Best Ethnic Elegance Award’ for her timeless contributions to traditional Indian wear. Anamika Khanna, celebrated for her pioneering work in bold silhouettes, was recognized with the ‘Best Bold Silhouettes Couture Award.’

Varun Bahl, a maestro in the realm of fashion, was bestowed with the prestigious ‘Best Timeless Classic Fashion Couturier Award’ in recognition of his enduring impact on the industry. Rina Dhaka, known for her innovative styles, received the ‘Best Innovative Style Pioneer Awards of the Year,’ adding another accolade to her illustrious career.

The National Designer Awards 2023 not only honored individual achievements but also showcased the collaborative spirit of the fashion community. The Core Committee of World Designer Forum, responsible for organizing the event, expressed its commitment to continuing the momentum into the future.

Looking ahead, the Core Committee of World Designer Forum is gearing up to officially announce the National Designer Awards 2024 on January 5, 2024. The upcoming event promises a series of grand shows in Goa and Colombo, Sri Lanka, highlighting the global reach of Indian fashion and design.
