Two rhinos that had been causing havoc in different areas of Sivasagar district for the previous few days were tranquillized on Monday in the Ligiripukhuri region of Nazira in the district. A team of three medics from the Wildlife Trust of India and the Forest Department tranquillized the duo.

The two tranquillized rhinoceros will be rehabilitated in Kaziranga National Park. The Forest Department tranquillized one with a drone camera before searching for the other. The other was tranquillized as soon as it was discovered.
The animal duo have been roaming the district for the past week, creating a scary environment. The two rhinos went out of the Kaziranga National Park and into populated areas in search of food, according to Forest Department sources.
