Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma was honored with the Karmayogi Award by Swami Jitendranand Saraswati, the General Secretary of Ganga Mahasabha at an event hosted at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao, Union Minister of State for Finance was the chief guest in the program, while Gautam Thakur, Chairman of Saraswat Co-operative Bank was the special guest.

About Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma
Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma, the recipient of the Karmayogi Award, is a sanyasi and has been a part of Shantikali Ashram in Tripura for a long time. Born on 22 January 1962 in Barkathal (Tripura), Debbarma after his formal education entered the service as Panchayat Secretary.
While being the Panchayat Secretary, he got an opportunity to meet Swami Kali Ji on a journey and became his disciple after being influenced by his life principles. Swami Kali was assassinated by the militants after which Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma took charge of the ashram.
His work
For the past several decades, Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma has had immense contribution towards tribal welfare, social upliftment, education, health and organic agriculture, tailoring, skill development in remote and tribal areas of Tripura.
According to Swami Vivekananda Samiti, the organizer of the Karmayogi Award, Swami Chittaranjan Das has taken a new initiative to change the lives of the marginalized sections in the tribal areas. Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma left his family to dedicate his entire life to society, his priceless work of humanity in the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic is a source of inspiration for anyone.
His past honors
Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma has been previously awarded with many honors for his religious and social work. Among them includes the Krishna Chandra Gandhi Award for the year 2019 from the Northeast Tribal Education Committee.
Addressing this honor ceremony through video conferencing, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb recalled the extremism and extremist incidents in Tripura in the last few decades and remembered Chittaranjan Debbarma’s contribution towards humanity.
