Tanisha Das, an energetic and young female cricketer from Tripura has been selected in the upcoming Under-19 Indian cricket Team A for the challenger’s trophy scheduled to begin from October 25 next.

Tanisha is a competitive batsman of the team Tripura and has inspired a lot of young cricketers who wanted to play for the national team. She has performed drastically well in the just-concluded BCCI match that attracted the attention of the selector’s panel.

Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has additionally congratulated her on being selected in the Indian U-19 squad for the Challenger Trophy 2021 and stated that she has made Tripura proud today.

Tripura Cricket Association president Prof Dr Manik Saha in conjunction with different office-bearers of the association congratulated her on her fulfillment. Tripura Cricket Association General Secretary Kishore Kumar Das gifted her a brand new cricket bat to the young champ and wished her all the success for her future.

Reaction of Sports Minister- Sushanta Chowdhury

Reacting to this, Youth Affairs and Sports minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated its very good news for the state. Earlier, Tripura was referred to as a backward state, however now we’re producing IAS, IFS and athletes in every field of sports.

“The selection of Tanisha Das in the U-19 squad will motivate the youth to opt for sports as a career in future. The state government has plans to develop the sports sector so that they get a proper platform at the national and international level,” Chowdhury said.

He additionally stated that the sportsperson from Tripura has been conferred with Khel Ratna and Padma Shri. 

“We had quality players in the TCA who played county cricket and other sports at national levels. I hope that more aspiring athletes will come up and make the state proud,” Chowdhury added.
