In a shocking incident, the body of an unknown man with his throat slit was discovered near Chaliha Nagar in Tinsukia town.
People in the area discovered the body near the Tinsukia Development Authority Office and reported the incident to the Tinsukia Sadar Police Station.
What the authorities suspect
Authorities indicated that preliminary evidence showed it was a murder case after the body was discovered. Tinsukia police eventually took the body for a post-mortem investigation.
Police are still investigating the incident, and the identity of the deceased has yet to be determined.
Earlier incident
Another murder was reported in Guwahati earlier this week.
A priest named Narayan Chakraborty (45) was discovered in a strange state in a quarter of the Railway Colony.
On the body’s head, there were injuries. Sanjiv Choudhury’s house was where the body was discovered. According to the report, Chakrabarty, a priest from Paltanbazar Kali Mandir, was assigned to look over the residence while Sanjiv was away.
His body was discovered wrapped in a blanket on a bed. Police have filed a report with the Latasil police station under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the incident.
Police detained a neighbour, Satyanaran Basor, for questioning. The priest’s wife was also questioned by the authorities in this instance.
A railway employee named Sanjiv Choudhury and his family travelled to Dhubri, his birthplace, to celebrate Chhath Puja. A blunt instrument is thought to have struck the person in the head, causing death.
At connection with the murder in Latasil, eight people were detained, including Narayan Chakraborty’s wife Mousami Chakraborty. On Monday, she was detained for her alleged role in the murder.
The couple’s older daughter, Bristi Chakraborty, was also questioned. According to police sources, Bristi told investigators that her father used to “physically and mentally torment” her mother.
