In the Month of September 2021, the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has planned to organise and celebrate Thematic POSHAN Maah.
POSHAN Abhiyaan is Government of India’s flagship programme to enhance nutritional outcomes for adolescent girls, childrens, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Launching of the mission
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the programme on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March, 2018 from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan,this mission was announced in Budget 2021-2022.
Aim of the Mission
The POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan focuses attention towards the problem of malnutrition and addresses it in a mission-mode.
However, this mission focuses on the aims of POSHAN Abhiyaan, Mission Poshan 2.0. It attempts to strengthen nutritional content, delivery, outreach and outcomes in order to develop practices that nurture health, wellness and immunity to disease as well as malnutrition.

To ensure community mobilization and bolster people’s participation, POSHAN Maah is celebrated during the month of September
In the year 2021, this year celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, whereas this month has been subdivided into weekly themes to improve holistic nutrition with a focused and comprehended approach.
Elaborately, this will mainly focus on Plantation Drive for POSHAN VATIKA at Anganwadis, Gram Panchayats, School Premises etc.
As a part of the celebration, saplings of nutritious fruit trees, medicinal plants & herbs and also local vegetables will be planted.
