On the night of Monday and Tuesday, police said, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a moving private bus while traveling with her family on the Yamuna Expressway.
FIR against the accused
According to the police, a first information report (FIR) was filed against two bus support employees at Firozabad’s Shikohabad police station, based on the girl’s mother’s allegation.
A 30-year-old woman boarded the bus with her 14-year-old daughter and 18-year-old niece, according to the FIR. They were seated near the driver’s seat in the front section of the bus.
According to police, the AC sleeper bus destined for Kanpur left the Badarpur Border in Delhi at 11 p.m. on Monday and was on its way to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway when the incident occurred.
The woman said in the FIR that two bus employees, known as Bablu and Anshu, offered her liquor when she entered one of the bus’s air-conditioned compartments. Bablu grabbed her hand and shattered her bangles when she hurled the glass out the window. According to the complaint, when she left the cabin, she discovered her daughter was missing from the seat.
“My daughter was seen coming out of another cabin and was in tears. She said that one of the staff, Anshu, outraged her modesty,” the FIR stated quoting the woman. She alleged that the bus was not stopped despite her requests to the driver and fellow passengers.
“Both the accused, Bablu and Anshu, got off the bus. While Bablu got down at Tappal in Aligarh, Anshu alighted at the Naujheel area of Mathura. Teams are being sent to these districts and contact has been established with SSP Mathura as we found their location in Mant town. SSP Etawah has also been alerted as the accused belong to the district,” said AK Shukla, SSP (Firozabad).
“A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 376 (rape), 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code besides Section 3/4 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act,” Shukla added.
According to authorities, the woman filed an FIR at Shikohabad police station after her relatives arrived.
Another recent rape case from the state
Police stated on Tuesday that the body of an 8-year-old Dalit child was discovered in a field near Kishangarh village. The girl had left for school around 8 a.m. on Monday, according to police. Some passers-by noticed her schoolbag shortly before noon and alerted the authorities.
When it was discovered that the girl had not arrived at school, her family began looking for her and discovered her dead in a field. The victim’s family claimed that she had been sexually assaulted before her death.
Meanwhile, enraged family members and villagers blocked traffic on the Tappal-Lalpur route for more than two hours, refusing to hand over the body to police for a post-mortem examination. Late Monday night, senior police officers arrived on the scene and persuaded the suspects to hand over the body. At midnight, a panel of doctors conducted a post-mortem examination.
