NAGALAND: The first soil testing laboratory is inaugurated by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on September 24. The lab is located at the Directorate of Soil and Water Conservation in state capital Kohima.

Funds for Soil Testing Laboratory:

The state’s first soil testing laboratory is funded by North Eastern Council (NEC) under the Ministry for Development of the North East Region (DoNER) at a cost of Rs 3.71 crore.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH: Chief Minister announces running of district wise Sustainable Development Goals trophy

At a conference with Deputy Commissioners of the state, CM Pema Khandu informed that a district-wise six month running SDG trophy will be undertaken.

He said, “the SDG platinum running trophy will receive Rs 2 crores, followed by SDG gold for Rs 1 crore, SDG silver for Rs 50 lakhs, and finally, the SDG bronze for Rs 25 lakhs.” The CM has also stated that this has been done to further the agenda on creating sustainable growth.

MANIPUR: Security forces arrest 4 cadres of the outfit in Kangpokpi district

In Kangpokpi, near Gopibung village in Champhai sub-division, four cadres of the outfit were arrested by security forces, barely four days after Delhi police arrested the self-styled commander-in-chief of Kuki National Front (non-SoO) group.

The arrested individuals were identified as Henpilal Haokip alias Bem alias Ronney (19), Lalkhohao Kipgen alias Lalneo (24), Manggoulal Kipgen (19) and Letminlun Kipgen alias Lulun (19).

MEGHALAYA: State Police retrieves two minor girls from Assam; investigation ongoing

Meghalaya Police in collaboration with Assam Police managed to retrieve two Khliehriat girls (aged 13 & 14) from separate locations in Kalain, Assam.

Reports state that the abductees were last spotted at their residence on September 17 until they were taken away by accused Saydul Islam and Raju Majuib. Following the incident, a case had then been registered under Khliehriat Women Police Station.

East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa then with granted assistance from the district police had immediately engaged in carrying out the investigation.

Later the East Jaintia Hills district police chief accredited the retrieval to have been successful owing to the joint efforts of the investigation team led by Women Police sub-inspector D. Shabong and sub-inspector B. Marbaniang in full collaboration with the Assam police. The victims after undergoing legal proceedings now remain safeguarded under the care of the Child Welfare Committee (CWS).

Despite the successful rescue, the accused taking darkness to their advantage had managed to flee the scene. Meantime the Police still remain steadily engaged on the lookout for their arrest.

MIZORAM: Mobile RT-PCR vans are likely to be operated in Mizoram

According to ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) party sources, Mizoram is set to receive two mobile vans equipped with RT-PCR facilities from the Centre.

On September 24, lone Lok Sabha member C. Lalrosanga and newly appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the chief minister Rosangzuala met with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi, where the Union minister informed them that the Centre would provide two RT-PCR mobile vans (Infectious Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, I – LAB), according to sources.

According to the statement, the Union Health Minister also informed the two leaders that more ventilators and ICU-related equipment would be delivered to the state in response to Chief Minister Zoramthanga and state health minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana’s requests.

SIKKIM: Sikkim among the eight states approved 2,903.80 cr in projects by the Finance Ministry

The Ministry of Finance’s Department of Expenditure has approved capital expenditure projects worth Rs. 2,903.80 crore in eight states, including Sikkim.

The projects were accepted under the ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure for 2021-22‘ scheme. Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Sikkim, and Telangana received a total of Rs. 1,393.83 crore from the Finance Ministry, according to a statement.

The scheme ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure for 2021-22′ was introduced on April 29, 2021, in response to a stronger multiplier effect of capital expenditure and to offer much-needed resources to the State in the aftermath of the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic.

TRIPURA: Two aspirants from Tripura clear UPSC Civil Service Exam 2020

The results for Civil Service Exam 2020, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) were announced Friday last week where two aspirants, Dhiman Chakma and Sumit Paul from Tripura came through victorious.

Dhiman Chakma hailing from the Kanchanpur sub-division of North Tripura district who currently serves as an IFS officer in Odisha had also managed to crack the 2019 Civil Services Exam (CSE) securing rank 722.

In a recent interview with EastMojo, Dhiman said that in the quest to ameliorate his rank he decided to appear in the UPSC 2020 exam and on a good outcome managed to secure rank 482. All the While, Sumit Paul hailing from Agartala outstandingly pulled through by securing rank 530.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb via his Twitter handle took to congratulate both achievers; he wrote they did Tripura proud and wished them all the very best for their future endeavours.
