A headmaster of a primary school in the Demow area of Assam’s Sivasagar district allegedly committed suicide in a tragic incident.
The deceased has been identified as Kali Prasad Chetia, who killed himself by hanging in one of his school’s classrooms.
Why did he commit suicide?
According to reports, the deceased committed himself after being unable to use the government’s RIIMS application (RIIMS Android Application helps monitor Student Enrollment, Student Attendance, Teacher Attendance,& Non-Teaching Staff Attendance, Staff Leaves, etc in Real-Time), which was made mandatory for teachers in government-run schools.
He was said to be concerned about his financial situation when the government announced that anyone who failed to install the application would see their salary cut.
He had previously complained about being unable to use the RIIMS software, which may have prompted him to take such harsh action.
