SIKKIM WITHDRAWS COVID RULES AS 3RD WAVE DECLINES IN THE STATE

Sikkim government has withdrawn restrictions on movement and gathering of people starting Friday. As Omicron-driven third Covid wave gradually declines, the state took the decision.

“There shall be no restrictions on inter-State movement on persons and vehicles. Accordingly, requirement of production of RT-PCR negative reports at the checkposts stands withdrawn,” state an order issued by Home department on Thursday.

The odd-even traffic system has also been withdrawn along with the restriction on pillion riders in two-wheelers.
Markets, shops and commercial establishments shall function normally duly following Covid-19 protocols.

Sikkim Institutions To Open Like Before


All State government offices including PSUs, boards, corporations under the State government shall function with 100% attendance with adherence to strict Covid-19 protocol, said the Home department.


The educational institutions in Sikkim are to function as per the guidelines issued by the Education department and HRD ministry.


“There shall be no restrictions on social, political, religious and sports related gatherings. However, national directives for Covid-19 management like wearing of masks and social distancing shall be strictly observed,” said the Home department.


The State government further directed that micro-containment zones are to be carefully demarcated by the district authorities duly defining the geographical boundaries.
