During the early hours of February 24, massive explosions were heard in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv and several cities near the frontline and along the country’s coast.
Russia-Ukraine crisis:
This incident took place after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation. AFP correspondents also heard blasts in the Black Sea port city of Odessa, with police and ambulance sirens heard across the Ukrainian capital city.
Explosions heard in different places:
Moreover, explosions were heard in Kharkiv, which is a large city situated south of the Russian border. According to sources, four blaring bursts were heard in Kramatorsk which is a frontline city that serves as the Ukrainian government’s effective capital for the eastern war zone, and more were heard in the eastern port city of Mariupol.
Some of the video showed heavy artillery fire which appeared to be missile strikes. The Ukrainian government said a Russian invasion had begun and military sites nationwide were being attacked. There were also unconfirmed reports of Russian ground troops moving into Odessa and Kharkiv.
While speaking to CNN a Ukrainian Interior Ministry official told, there had been “hundreds” of casualties, without providing details. The figure could not be immediately confirmed.”

Putin said a full-scale invasion was launched by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. In a tweet he wrote, “Peaceful Ukrainian cities are under strikes. This is a war of aggression. Ukraine will defend itself and will win. The world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now.”
