On Monday, a video of the popular TV host Raghav Juyal went viral where he was seen referring to one of the participants from Assam as “Chinese”, which ignited a lot of debate and elicited significant indignation.
Reportedly, Raghav Juyal, a dancer, as well as the host, was charged today based on a short video from one of India’s most popular dance platforms, Dance Deewane, in which he was seen mockingly addressing a young girl from Guwahati in Chinese.
Raghav Juyal’s Clarification
The video clip is being mistaken, according to anchor Raghav Juyal, who posted a video on Instagram clarifying his “controversial” and “racist” remark.
He said that when the kids in the show were first asked about their hobbies and interests. He went on to say that when asked about her hobbies and interests, competitor Gunjan Sinha from Assam stated that she can ‘speak in Chinese.’
Furthermore, he indicated that the young candidate would speak in “gibberish Chinese,” which quickly became an inside joke during the show’s run. The artist went on to say that this is why he introduced the candidate ‘in her style’ in the final few shows.
Finally, he urged internet users to view the entire episode and show before passing judgment on him based on a tiny clip.
