Pratyasha Rana, a Guwahati-based stand-up comedian, has appeared on MTV’s Center Fruit Comedy Base Camp, a talent search for the world’s highest-ever comedy show.
The show is hosted by Cyrus Broacha, a quick-witted comic, and is assessed by a panel of well-known comedians.
About Pratyasha
Pratyasha is the first female comedian from Assam. She works as a full-time copywriter and has been doing stand-up comedy for the past 2.5 years.
Her comedy tackles topics like body acceptance, gender injustice, and defying societal standards, among others.
Her performances and refreshing sense of humor are inspired by everyday events that many women can relate to.
“It was my first time on a reality show camera. Even though I have recorded many sets before, this felt surreal. I was quite nervous but seeing my childhood heroes Cyrus Broacha and Anu Menon at an arm’s length was very warm and welcoming,” Pratyasha said.
“Everyone in the team was professional and helpful that made the entire experience very comfortable. I am delighted to have represented Assam on national TV,” she said.
Comedy scenario in India
The Indian comedy culture appears to be flourishing, but there is always room for improvement, particularly among female comedians.
The setting in which a comedian can grow and prosper must be sadistic and dismal since that is when the light of comedy shines brightest. And, given the current state of affairs in the country, the level of comedy will be unrivaled.
MTV India, Center Fruit Launch Talent Hunt Show ‘Comedy Base Camp’
MTV India has teamed up with Perfetti Van Melle India’s (PVMI) gum brand Center Fruit to host a talent search for a comedy show called “Comedy Base Camp.” Wavemaker, a media agency, organized the collaboration.
The co-branded comedy talent hunt show premiered on MTV India. Viewers will be able to send in their submissions to be a part of the show.
On MTV-Center Fruit Comedy Base Camp, which will be telecast on MTV India, selected contenders will battle for the winning title.
Contestants will be narrowed down by a panel of comedians and performers. Following the judges’ screening and mentorship, five champions will be chosen to climb to Mount Everest Base Camp and perform in front of it in a grand finale.
The MTV-Center Fruit Comedy Base Camp winner will earn a trophy and cash rewards.
