Recruitment of State Police

The state police will begin recruiting for around 6000 positions next week, the chief minister informed.

“We wanted to fill around 16,000 posts in Assam police by May next year but it won’t be possible. However,” he added “recruitment for 6000 posts including for five commando battalion will be done soon.”

Other decisions related to Police Department

The CM reviewed, among other things, modernization of the police force, improved conviction rates, case disposition, prompt public service delivery, responsive and sensitive policing, and efficient intelligence gathering at the discussion.

The CM said, “Assam police has been asked to follow the Supreme Court ruling and to register a FIR after completing its preliminary enquiry within 24 hours. Necessary amendments will be done to Assam police accountability commission too.”
