Criticism is swirling around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s travel choices as he visits Assam but not Manipur. The Prime Minister, who is on a two-day visit to Assam, inaugurated several developmental projects worth Rs. 11,600 Crore in the state on Sunday.
Congress criticizes PM Modi for visiting Assam but not Manipur
Pawan Khera, a prominent figure in the Congress party, took a dig at the Prime Minister’s visit and stated on the social media platform X. Khera humorously pointed out the convenience of flights from Guwahati to Imphal, sharing the available options on Monday
He said, “Dear PMO India. If Himanta (Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma) can book a chopper for you then it is fine, otherwise here is the list of flights between Guwahati and Imphal tomorrow (February 05). Please let us know if we need to make the booking.”
Notably, Manipur has been going through a wave of ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities since May of the previous year. Unfortunately, over 250 lives lost and many have lost their homes due to this ongoing violence.
