The price of petrol has sky rocketed again. This time the price crosses the 100 mark in 6 districts of assam.
Petrol Price on the rise
The price of petrol has been rising since the start of the year and more than 4 times in row. This time it has crossed 100 in 6 districts of Assam, including Guwahati.
Residents are left traumatised as the sudden increase in essential commodities have left them on the verge.
The first district to feel the blow was Lakhimpur and Majuli. The river island was left high and dry when the price crossed the 100 mark. Other districts that followed the price range are Dhemaji, Karbi anglong, Dima Hasao, and Biwanath. The hike was of 55 paise but the difference it made to the people was more. On Sunday, the price was seen to be 101.13 per litre and on the other hand it was 99 per litre.
People are worried about the situation as the prices were constantly being revised for the sixth consecutive time in a week. For the last 5 months from November 2021 to March 2022 prices were stagnant. The highest range was marked at 97.12 in the districts of assam.
In comparison to the price range of petrol in the last couple of years, guwahati city witnessed a rise of rs 27 per litre. In the pre covid times, prices were decent and everybody could imagine it to rise till 100. Alas, we experience this today.
This rise caused a havoc among the people pf assam as all the prices of commodities are on the verge to increase. Incuding LPG cylinders which resulted in rise of food prices in resturants. The most hard hit victims are the middle class people who suffer the most.
Until tuesday, the price of a domestic cylinder stands at Rs 1000 in 16 districts of Assam. and at Rs 998 in others. Since 2018, prices has jumped up high from 697 to reaching the 1000 mark today.
