We have heard Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and others such extraordinary personalities who have defined what we as a human can achieve by believing and working for our dreams, as such there’s one story of a man named Moonjir Alam, from Assam, who was inspired from movies like Super 30, and has made a revolution in the education sector in Northeast India.
Speaking to The North-Eastern Chronicle, 28-year-old Moonjir Alam, started his journey from Barpeta District of Assam, he faced numerous challenges, with lack of proper education facilities and fewer job opportunities in this region it posed a great threat while he was pursuing his higher studies back in his 10th grade, although he did complete his studies from Mumbai and successfully started his venture, he knew something was missing and wanted to do something for this region.
As Legendary Poet Lakshminath Bezbaruah said, “আমি অসমীয়া নহওঁ দুখীয়া,” he knew that he must act before its too late, and having Elon Musk as his biggest inspiration, Moonjir started his dream project and established ‘Howly National Science Academy’, an institution he created with his marvellous team, where he wanted to full the dreams and aspirations of youths, to provide the quality of education that he lacked back when he was in his 10th grade.
Acting as the Executive Director of Howly National Science Academy (HNSA), Moonjir Alam revolutionized the education field with this institution which is now known as Barpeta’s first fully residential science college situated at Howly town.
With his well dedicated, young hardworking team, HNSA is head by Dr Abu Taleb, as the principal of the esteemed institution, and Dr Saiful Alom Siddiqui, as the vice-principal who is a gold medalist from Chennai in Biology and Nihar Das has education counsellor, who motivate students to be on track, prepare and pursue their dream careers.
HNSA is the brainchild of Alam Foundation, which has contributed to providing quality education in Lower Assam. As of now, the academy offers various unique cum intensive coursework for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, etc. Aiming to help students prepare for their future in the field of their choice such as Medical, Engineering, NDA.
“Also my father Dr Shamsul Alam’s vision for a quality institution like Super 30 is one of the reasons for the birth of Howly National Science Academy”, he said.
And remarkably they have provided 100% scholarships to Below poverty students (BPL) who have scored above 95% marks in theirs HSLC exams. Moreover, they offer both English and Assamese medium for classes 11 and 12, and with the help of digital technology, they have bridged the barrier that we are facing right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, albeit not only providing quality education for students of Howly National Science Academy, but they also have made free online learning courses on Youtube which is accessible for all, setting another great example that we should never compromise with the quality of education.
With time, he faced various challenges starting from building a strong team to establishing its presence and battling the pandemic and its challenges while complying with norms posed by the Health officials. But he never gave up and he along with his team came up with innovative ways to tackle such issues with ease.
Alam has proven what a clear vision, dedication and a little bit of magic from within can shape and make us achieve anything if we opt for, as Paulo Coelho said, “when you really want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
