Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that the government has selected 142 districts that are behind on one or two development indicators, and has issued fresh challenges to all governments to work together in the same way that aspirational districts have.

A new challenge

“We found 142 areas that are otherwise progressive and prosperous but lack one or two key characteristics, such as malnutrition or schooling. “Now, just as we did for aspirational districts, we must work together to improve the situation,” Modi said, adding, “This is a new challenge for all of us.”

Everyone, including the federal government, state governments, and local governments. To accomplish this, we must all work together.”

Virtual talk by PM

Modi was virtually speaking to multiple Chief Ministers from around India, as well as District Magistrates from hundreds of districts and other ministry officials.

Amitabh Kant, the CEO of the NITI Aayog, was also present. The Prime Minister received direct comments on the progress and current state of government initiatives and programmes execution in several districts.

“Working in silos during decision-making is difficult, but working in silos during implementation is even more difficult. “When silos are broken down, 1+1 does not equal 2, but 1+1 becomes 11.”

The Prime Minister assured, “When silos are broken down, 1+1 does not equal 2, but 1+1 becomes 11. The aspirational districts reflect this community strength.”

“People in aspirational districts have spent much of their lives in deprivation and have had to fight hard for even the smallest of things. They’re just itching to get out of this rut, therefore they’re willing to take chances anytime the opportunity arises “,he stated.

“We must comprehend their capability. The desire for advancement brings individuals together.”

Desire to implement all schemes

The Prime Minister also expressed his desire for 100 percent saturation of all government services in every district within the next two years, whether it be roads, Ayushman Bharat, bank accounts, Ujjwala gas schemes, government insurance, pensions, or housing, and said that everything should be planned for a time-bound competition.

He also urged the virtual session participants to find traditional talents in aspirational districts, which are primarily populated by tribals, and provide a value chain for them, in addition to realizing the ‘Digital India’ ambition for each and every hamlet.

He previously detailed the accomplishments of scores of districts in various fields, as well as better targets for a variety of government services such as Jan Dhan accounts and toilet construction, as well as enhanced health service delivery in rural areas.

PM praised the CMs

Modi praised Chief Ministers for appointing good officers, providing them with stable tenure, and providing them with the necessary support, saying that all CMs are trying to bring aspirational districts up to par with the rest of the states.

Modi concluded his speech by urging all DMs to remember their first day on the job and to reignite their ardor and work with the same approach.
