Nagpur: Officials said on December 14 that a 19-year-old woman allegedly filed a false police complaint of gang rape in order to marry her lover, keeping police on their toes for the entire day.
What happened?
On December 13, after the woman filed a complaint at Kalamna police station around 11 a.m., around 1,000 security personnel, including Nagpur Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials, probed the matter in Maharashtra, they claimed.
Investigators came to the conclusion that she faked the gang-rape storey after reviewing footage from more than 250 CCTV cameras throughout the city.
According to a senior police officer, the woman later told the police that she did it to marry her boyfriend, but she did not elaborate on her specific plans.
