A group of miscreants severely attacked a journalist from a local daily newspaper in Assam’s Karimganj after the mob lynching in Jorhat. The assault occurred on Thursday.

What happened
The miscreants struck the victim journalist, identified as Rashid Ahmed of Ratabari, with an iron rod.
After being rushed to Chorgula Health Center in severe condition, the on-call doctor recommended that he be transferred to Silchar Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Rashid Ahmed, a journalist, was involved in a dispute with a gang of miscreants when one of them struck him in the head and back with an iron rod, causing significant injuries.
According to sources, the journalist’s wife was also injured while attempting to protect him from the miscreants’ grip.
After the incident
In connection with the incident, a case was filed at Ratabari police station against four miscreants: Sajid Ahmed, Maklis Uddin, Islam Uddin, and Majboon Nesa.
Meanwhile, members of the Ramkrishna Nagar Circle Press Club and the Karimganj Press Club held a big protest calling for the offender to be apprehended within the next 24 hours.
Notably, all four defendants are said to be on the run. The Ratabari police department initiated an investigation into the incident.
